AGGrand Fertilizers give excellent results at an even better price!

Traditional fertilization practices have certainly caused surface and groundwater pollution, but banning the application of certain nutrients is not the answer. The application of both nitrogen and phosphorus can be problematic. Chemical fertilizers that are highly concentrated cause water pollution even when they are applied at the recommended rates when followed too soon by a heavy rain or too much irrigation.

The answer to this dilemma is to start using more sustainable practices and natural products, such as AGGRAND fertilizers. The recycling of nutrients through the return of grass clippings (using a mulching mower) stimulates soil biological activity and supplies at least two pounds of nitrogen per 1,000 square feet per year without causing any pollution. The application of low levels of AGGRAND fertilizers that contain fish, kelp humates, plus adding corn gluten meal, stimulates the proliferation of microbes and earthworms, which readily fix these forms nutrients before they ever get into lakes, rivers or streams. As the creatures in the soil multiply, they excrete nutrients and die are eaten and digested and excreted by other organisms, which releases nutrients slowly as plants need them.

An actual comparison of two types of fertilizer, AGGRAND 4-3-3 and one that is chemical, illustrates the difference. One homeowner applies 30-5-10 fertilizer to his or lawn at 20 pounds per 5,000 square feet a neighbor applies one quart of AGGRAND 4-3-3 (2.3 pounds) of fish-kelp humate fertilizer per 5,000 square feet. The natural fertilizer puts .0184 pound and .013 pound of phosphate per 1,000 square feet the soil. The naturally fertilized lawn is more drought and pest resistant and uses water so it needs less frequent irrigation.

AGGRAND fertilizer stimulates biological activity, which creates stable soil aggregates enabling the roots to go deeper and become better developed, keeping nutrients in the root zone.

The chemical fertilizer puts 1.2 pounds of nitrogen and .2 pound of phosphate per 1,000 square feet into the soil (65 times more nitrogen and 15 times more phosphate than the natural fertilizer). The chemically fertilized lawn and/or pasture is water hungry and needs constant irrigation because the grass relies on the chemical to supply the nutrients. The chemical toxifies the soil, inhibiting biological activity, which results in compacted soil and an unhealthy root environment.

Most of the nutrients are free to flow over the compacted surface into the surface water or past the restricted root zone into the ground water.

Research shows that up to 96 percent of high analysis chemical fertilizers are not taken up by plants. Fertilization is not inherently bad, but the type and amount of fertilization is the key to producing healthy lawns and pastures and eliminating water pollution. Remember, nitrogen and phosphate are present in all ecosystems, but nature knows how to hold them and make them readily available when they are needed.

Mercury Racing Powers TEAM AMSOIL to New Cat Lite World Speed Record

Mercury Racing 525 EFIs and CNC Props Power 131.981 MPH Run

Paul Whittier of Yarrow Point, Wash., and veteran throttleman Bob Teague of Valencia, Calif., recently piloted TEAM AMSOIL #77, a Skater 368 catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing 525 EFI engines coupled with Mercury Racing dry-sump Six drives and Mercury Racing CNC cleaver propellers, to set a new POPRA (Pacific Offshore Powerboat Racing Association) Offshore Cat Lite World Kilo Speed Record at 131.981 mph.

The record was set on December 7, 2008, at the POPRA Salton Sea Speed Week Kilo Event. The Salton Sea, a body of water in the Southern California desert, has been host to many races and kilo runs over the decades and was once a top destination for boating, swimming and family fun in the late 1950s.

Kilo speed records, certified by the American Power Boat Association (APBA) and the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), require back-to-back speed runs over a straight-line, one-kilometer course. The record is the average of the two consecutive speed runs.

About a dozen teams came out with high hopes that the unique environment would prove to be the ideal setting for squeezing every last drop of speed out of their boats. The combination of below-sea-level air density, extremely high salinity in the water, cool desert air and a perfectly undisturbed body of water made the perfect formula for world record-breaking speeds.

TEAM AMSOIL’s run on the first day on proved to be good enough to break the previous Cat Lite world kilo speed record of 126.703 mph held by Bob Bull of Merritt Island, Fla. Teague and Whittier tried various propellers and set-ups throughout the day in attempt to better their speed.

“We tried everything this year, and we always came back to Mercury Racing CNC props based on acceleration, lap times and top speed. Mercury Racing props are always four to five seconds faster. For us, Mercury Racing CNC props are our only choice now,” said Teague.

By the end of the first day, the new speed record stood at 131.319 mph. On Day 2, TEAM AMSOIL made several more runs and was successful once more at breaking their own speed record for the new POPRA Cat Lite World Kilo Speed Record of 131.981 mph, certified by APBA/UIM.

TEAM AMSOIL Offshore Racing has had a near perfect racing season and can now add POPRA World Speed Record Holder to its list of accomplishments in the Cat Lite category. The Team has earned the 2008 titles of SBI World Champion, Cat Lite High Points Champion in the OPA Racing Circuit, Winner of the Geico Triple Crown, Offshore Super Series National Champion and High Points Champion.

Champion power boat driver gets one year extension

AMSOIL INC, The First in Synthetics, and Bob Teague have come to agreement on a one-year contract extension for the 2009 off shore power boat season.

Teague, along with driver Paul Whittier, were one of the most successful off shore power boat teams in the world in 2008. The team won the SBI World championship, OPA Cat Lite High Points championship, the GEICO Triple Crown, OSS National champion, OSS High Points championship and set the POPRA World Speed Record in December.

“Bob Teague and Paul Whittier are the best in the business,” said Jeremy Meyer, AMSOIL Race Program Manager. “They find a way to win every time the #77 AMSOIL boat touches the water. AMSOIL has established itself as a winning formula in power boat racing due to the efforts of these two men.”

Teague and Whittier will primarily race in the Off Shore Super Series in 2009 and will add events in the SBI and POPRA as their schedule dictates.

“It doesn’t matter where the race is held at, we’ll be there, and we’ll win,” said Teague. “AMSOIL has been tremendous in increasing our horsepower and protecting our engines during these stressful races. We look forward to another successful year running the #77 AMSOIL boat.”
Teague's tentative 2009 schedule has him starting the year of in Biloxi, Miss. on March 27-30.

Sudden Impact Racing Wins Coast to Coast

The Sudden Impact Racing team was at it again this past weekend, with four trucks split evenly between Phoenix, Ariz. and Woodstock, Ga. Sean Duhon in the AMSOIL T-Maxx and Kevin King in the AMSOIL Sudden Impact took to the drag strip at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix for the 10th Annual Tire Pros Monster Truck Nationals, while Jon Zimmer in the AMSOIL T-Maxx 2 and John Killinger in the AMSOIL Sudden Impact 2 ripped up the Dixie Speedway track in Woodstock. Both pairs of trucks held their own and left a lasting impression on the fans in both places, further proving that the SIR team is on track for one of their most successful years yet.

In Phoenix, Duhon and King had their work cut out for them, as they squared off in multiple exhibition and freestyle competitions against a stacked field of powerhouse trucks and drivers. King piloted the Sudden Impact truck into a three-way tie for first place in the night’s grueling Freestyle competition, which featured the trucks performing wheelies, donuts, and grabbing big air off of various obstacles. Sunday’s event would feature much of the same, as the SIR trucks again threw down the gauntlet on the confines of the Firebird Raceway drag strip.

On the other side of the country, the potent J&J combo of Jon Zimmer and John Killinger took on a slew of big names as well on a long and fast straight-line racing track and a treacherous freestyle track. Although the two AMSOIL/SuperWraps backed entries exited earlier than they would have liked in racing both nights, the duo confirmed that SIR trucks and drivers know how to make it up to their fans during freestyle. Zimmer put on a solid freestyle run on Saturday night, operating only in two-wheel drive, which made his tough job even tougher. Killinger did his part to uphold the Sudden Impact reputation, and showed the Georgia fans that although he may be relatively new to the seat at SIR, he and his truck are clicking just fine. Expect more great things from him as the year progresses.

Until then, we'll see you at the races.

AMSOIL Brings Convenience of Revamped Oil Analysis Program to Wider Market

Oil Analyzers Inc.AMSOIL announces that Oil Analyzers Inc (OAI) has been expanded and is now available with three state-of-the-art facilities across the U.S. Testing includes, but is not limited to, dirt, wear particles, fuel dilution, and coolant.

Oil analysis allows motorists to test a sample of their engine oil and virtually see inside the vehicle’s engine, finding potentially critical issues before they become severe. Oil analysis also enables motorists and fleet managers to obtain optimum equipment life by preventing premature equipment failure.

According to Ed Kellerman, manager of Oil Analyzers, Inc., “One of the major applications for oil analysis has been to determine serviceability of motor oils for extended service life. Truck fleets and owner operators have historically used oil analysis to reduce the amount of equipment downtime and to insure that their engine oil is still good to go.”

OAI utilizes oil analysis labs in Salt Lake City, Utah, Houston, Texas, and Indianapolis, Indiana, to enable faster turnaround times. All facilities are available by ground within 48 hours from anywhere in the continental US. The labs are committed to completing reports quickly with 98% of reports available online within 24 hours utilizing HORIZON online reporting software.

In addition, OAI has expanded its services to include a full complement of oil, diesel fuel and coolant testing. It also offers many additional fluid analysis options, including industrial applications. When the testing is complete, it is compiled into a user friendly, easy-to-understand report with detailed information on the condition of the engine.

OAI sample kits are available individually or per case of 50 or 100. Consumers have the option of purchasing the kits with return postage paid, or they can choose to pay when they return the kit for testing.
